*After reaching gold status in mid-December with over 500,000 units sold, Nicki Minaj’s debut album “Pink Friday” has just been certified platinum (1 million sold) by the RIAA.
Album sales for “Pink Friday” have moved past Jay-Z’s “Greatest Hits” and Kanye West’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” both of which were also released on Nov. 22.
RapRadar is reporting that Minaj is the first New York rapper to score a platinum debut album since Lloyd Banks.
