Allen West, a Republican Congressman from Florida, engaged in some interesting black-on-black political crime this week by referring to President Barack Obama as a “low level socialist agitator.” During an interview with Laura Ingraham, West attacked the president in ways that are rare for an African American.
The Congressman referred to President Obama as a “low level socialist agitator” and said that he displayed “dictator like arrogance” during his budget speech last week. West then went on to Fox News and stood by his remarks:
"I do stand by those words," said West. "The truth needs to be said."
"I am sick and tired of this class warfare, this Marxist, demagogic rhetoric that is coming from the President of the United States of America," West said. "It is not helpful for this country and it's not going to move the ball forward as far as rectifying the economic situation in our country. And I'm not going to back away from telling what the truth is."
West was heavily backed by the Tea Party, which some have argued to be a racist political movement. West was likely a favorite of the party because he is black, which helps them to avoid accusations of racism. West stands with a few other black Republicans who are given opportunities within the party for their willingness to attack President Barack Obama.
